Students Can’t Learn Math?
It one of the least useful subjects taugh at the momnet. I’m not basing teachers or anything. But I mean when in high school and college some of the math I can truly say was useless for me and others. My major is animal behavior, but the math i learned has no every day use what so ever. I mean trig, the quad formula, what’s the point in learning it really. College math more so, when I going to use calc.
Stats was usefully, I might actually use that., but everything else, not so.
Why don’t they teach math that has more practical uses, such as interests, balancing check books,Tipping, interests on cards, comparing food/item prices, to get the best value. Whether to finance or buy. Things like that. Budgeting and things like that. Why not teach math that can actually be used and doesn’t require future input.
You make some great points.
The useful math you mentioned is often called “consumer math” and some schools do have classes in this subject. Most often, though, schools expect you to learn these topics from your parents.
All the best.
